Brazilian company creates machine that can reforestate Brazil

Brazilian company Mahogany Roraima, an African mahogany producer, has created a machine for planting seedlings automatically. The tool was created to accelerate the reforestation of devastated areas such as the Amazon. The equipment is capable of sowing diverse species at a speed of 13 km / h – or 20 hectares every 3 ½ hours.
According to him, thanks to the machine, it will be possible to plant 16,000 trees in just three and a half hours, with three operators. With 100 machines, then in just 14 years it would be possible to plant 1 trillion trees. That amount would be sufficient to contain the problem of greenhouse gas emissions on the planet.

“Today, the largest forest plantations in the world total an average of 42 million trees a year. At this rate, it would take 23,000 years to reach the number of plantings needed, ”explains Marcello Guimarães, president of the company’s Board of Directors.

According to the businessman, the only difficulty of mass planting – the production of large-scale seedlings – is the case of extraction of plants of native species. But, the company has found a solution to this problem. By setting up nurseries in several states at the same time, it would be possible to merge production into 50% of native species and 50% of exotic species.

Thus, “the natives would remain in place forming the new forests, and the exotic, years after planting, could be cut for the timber industry. This would solve two problems: the environmental one, which requires urgency to plant forests, and the illegal logging ”, he concludes.
